At Simply Injectables we have 30 minutes designated for each appointment. Please arrive on time. All appointments require careful assessment, education and time for a procedure. Here are some tips for before and after your appointment.
Before
It is okay to come in empty handed. We will always offer a personalized assessment. We are happy to educate on what procedures are appropriate for a given concern. Try to avoid alcohol, fish oil, flax seed oil, multivitamins, NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen and aspirin for 24-72 hours prior to your appointment. Avoiding these things prevents the likelihood of bruising during your appointment.
During
During your appointment at Simply Injectables, you will be educated on each procedure’s risks, benefits, and possible side effects. We will ask questions to guide our assessment. We will take before photos. We will discuss the plan for the day and for future appointments. After a plan is agreed upon, we will begin the procedure. Unpleasant reactions that could occur during your appointment include localized pain, mild swelling, tenderness, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising. Needle-related pain and/or anxiety may result in vasovagal responses (including e.g., syncope, hypotension), which may require medical attention from your injector. A majority of Botox appointments are pleasant, quick, easy and, we hope, fun!
After
With Botox, bruising is infrequent but does happen. Usually the bruises associated with Botox are small and faint but every once in a while, we see a dime-sized bruise. To reduce the chances of bruising, be sure to avoid drinking alcohol and engaging in activities that cause enlargement of blood vessels, such as direct sunlight, steam rooms, saunas, and engaging in strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours. All of these activities have the ability to cause additional bruising. The best makeup for covering bruising is Dermablend. Arnica Montana and Bromelain are naturopathic supplements that help breakdown bruises faster. Arnica and Bromelain may be taken up to 3 days before your appointment and up to 7 days after your appointment.
Do not receive Botox cosmetic if you:
Are pregnant or breast-feeding
Have a current skin infection
Have a neuromuscular disorder
History of HIV, lupus, RA (immunosuppression)
Please tell your injector if you are taking one of the following medications:
· Aminoglycoside antibiotics (may increase effects of botulinum toxin)
· Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine (may reduce effect)
· Blood thinning agents like warfarin or aspirin (may result in bruising)
